Kartik Ananth, MD is the founder of Pacific Pain & Wellness Group. His expertise and interests cover a variety of conditions, treatments, and research topics. As a double board certified psychiatrist and pain management specialist with over a decade of experience, he is uniquely qualified to offer medical, non-surgical, and innovative solutions for managing chronic pain & treating mental disorders.

Dr. Ananth has dedicated his life to helping patients overcome challenges so they can enjoy a fuller life. His initial interest  in medicine stemmed from his father, who was also a physician. As a child he admired his father’s knowledge and passion for patient care. From an early age, Dr. Ananth dove into science to learn more about how it can be used to help people.

He is a compassionate medical provider with a deep understanding of how patients’ lives can be negatively affected by unmanaged mental health disorders or physical pain. Dr. Ananth practices a holistic approach to medicine by treating patients as  a whole, addressing each facet of their health concerns.

“If you’re not growing, you’re shrinking,” is a motto that Dr. Ananth lives by in all aspects of his life, but especially in his line of work. This quote motivates him to continually learn and grow so that he can find more innovative ways to provide  his patients with the best care possible. Dr. Ananth finds his work most rewarding when he sees a person improve and feel better, and he feels that helping others in this way is the most gratifying part of being a doctor. 

Mental Wellness: Dr. Ananth is passionate about helping patients improve their mood and functionality. He is an expert psychiatrist who successfully treats bipolar disorder, OCD, postpartum depression, anxiety disorders, ADD, ADHD, depression, PTSD, and more. He utilizes the latest in psychotropic medication, ketamine infusion, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and psychedelics.

Hobbies & Personal Interests

Apart from being a physician, Dr. Ananth’s most valued roles in life are being husband to his wife Fabiana and father to their three children. Fabiana works in the practice as the Business Manager, and keeps the office running on all eight cylinders. Dr. Ananth’s family is his pride and joy, and he loves spending quality time with them when he’s not busy caring for patients. 

They have two beautiful English bulldogs named Frosty and Turbo, who have captured his family’s heart. Their playful personalities and loyal dedication have made Frosty and Turbo cherished members of their family.

Dr. Ananth’s interest in helping patients achieve their “best self” extends into his personal hobby of portraiture photography. He finds great satisfaction in shooting portraits that reflect a person’s personality and best features. As a doctor, he prioritizes  his physical health by staying active and playing racquetball. Nevertheless, Dr. Ananth enjoys a balanced life by indulging in a treat every now and then. With years of practice and dedication, he now considers himself a gourmet pastry chef. He loves to share his culinary creations with his family and friends by preparing scrumptious desserts for special occasions. 

Education

After Dr. Ananth completed his medical degree, he finished residency training in psychiatry at New York Medical College. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Ananth moved to California where he had the distinct honor of serving as a Senior Fellow of Pain Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC). Having served in various entrepreneurial roles within the medical field, he went back to school in 2016 and earned his Executive MBA from USC.

Dr. Ananth’s reputation extends past the hundreds of patients who refer their friends and family to his practice. He has been voted a “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly each year since 2016 and has appeared on the “LA Top Docs” list every year since 2018. Professional Interests

Dr. Ananth’s professional interests include interventional psychiatry and interventional pain treatments. Interventional psychiatry solutions can help “rewire” the brain’s circuits for more optimal functionality using a variety of methods such as electrical currents and transcranial magnetic stimulation, psychedelics, and certain psychotropic medicines. Interventional psychiatry allows Dr. Ananth to provide evidence-based and effective solutions for patients with treatment-resistant mental health disorders.

Dr. Ananth also specializes in interventional pain management techniques that offer effective pain relief. These treatments are aimed at interrupting the pain signals in nerves located in the spinal cord, neck, and vertebral joints. The methods of interventional pain solutions that Dr. Ananth utilizes include spinal cord stimulation, facet joint blocks, nerve & root blocks, radiofrequency ablation, joint injections, and epidural injections.

As a part of his pain management practice, Dr. Ananth practices regenerative medicine using the patient’s own stem cells (from bone marrow) and platelet-rich plasma (from blood) to initiate the body’s own healing process to repair damaged nerves, joints, and soft tissues.

Dr. Ananth is a published author in several medical journals on topics covering chronic pain management; tardive dyskinesia and ethnicity; immigrant life cycle adjustment; and ophthalmology.

He has authored several publications that are currently in review on the topics of neurology, depression, and ketamine infusion. Dr. Ananth is actively involved in studying the benefits of using psychedelics for mental health wellness to improve patients’ lives.
